LowMesh

Troubleshooting

Use this page as a structured checklist. Move top-to-bottom: power and USB, bootloader, firmware match, app pairing, then RF and mesh settings.

Flashing and USB

No serial port appears

  1. Cable – Try a different known-data cable; charge-only cables are a frequent cause.
  2. Port – Prefer motherboard USB; avoid bad hubs.
  3. Bootloader – Re-enter DFU/UF2/BOOT mode (see Flashing Guide).
  4. Drivers – On Windows, some boards need CP210x or CH340 drivers; vendor pages list specifics.
  5. Browser – Use Chrome or Edge; grant serial permission when prompted.

Flash starts then fails

  • Power sag – Try another port; avoid underpowered hubs.
  • Wrong image – Re-select the exact board/revision.
  • Interference – Close other serial monitors (Arduino IDE, serial terminals).

Device “bricked” or loops in bootloader

  • Reflash a known-good stable build for your hardware.
  • For UF2 devices, confirm you see the correct drive or DFU state.
  • Search upstream issues for your exact board string—recovery is often documented.

App pairing (Bluetooth)

Cannot find the device

  • Distance – Move closer; remove metal cases interfering with antenna.
  • Power – Ensure adequate battery/USB supply during pairing.
  • Stale pairing – Remove the device from OS Bluetooth settings and forget in the app cache if available.

Pairs but disconnects

  • Low battery or brownouts under RF load.
  • App/firmware mismatch – Update app or reflash firmware to paired versions per release notes.

Mesh traffic and “no messages”

No other nodes visible

One-way traffic

  • Antenna damage, loose IPEX, or wrong band antenna.
  • Hidden node problem—move test nodes or add a repeater with height.

Poor range (when settings look right)

  • Antenna height and line of sight dominate over small power tweaks.
  • Urban noise and obstructions reduce margin—raise antennas and simplify the test (open field).
  • SF / airtime – Very slow settings trade range for time on air; obey duty cycle limits.

Where to get more help

  1. Device vendor documentation for your exact SKU.
  2. Meshtastic®meshtastic.org/docs and community channels linked there.
  3. MeshCore™github.com/meshcore-dev and project-listed chat.
  4. LowMesh – Use contact options on the main site if your question is about orders or LowMesh-specific hardware.

Bring firmware version, board name, region, and what you already tried—it saves rounds of guessing.
